Dunboy Woods, Castletownbere

The Dunboy Castle Loop Walk starts near the old ruins of Dunboy Castle, once home to the O'Sullivan Bere clan. This castle played a big role in Irish history, especially during the Siege of Dunboy in 1602. Walking through the ruins, you can imagine what life was like here centuries ago while taking in views of the coast.

After exploring the castle ruins, the path takes you along the coastline with beautiful views of Bantry Bay. The trail also winds through woodlands, offering a mix of shaded forest paths and open coastal scenery. It’s a great walk for anyone who loves history and nature combined.
